BOUND BROOK — Three Somerset County residents were indicted today for allegedly robbing a man who initially believed he was invited to Bound Brook for a barbecue.

A grand jury handed up charges of first-degree robbery and second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery against Bound Brook residents Julio Heisler, 22, and Javehy Toney, 18, and South Bound Brook resident Theresa Jackson, 20.

The trio are accused of collaborating in the attack that occurred at 7:30 p.m. on April 20, behind a residence on Highland Place, where Toney lived, according to the affidavit Bound Brook Detective Sascha Higazi filed in Superior Court.

The victim, a 24-year-old Bridgewater man, said Heisler had telephoned him earlier that day to invite him to the residence for a barbecue, Higazi wrote.

When he arrived, the victim called Heisler, who told him to go to the rear of the dwelling. Three individuals the victim described as males confronted him, Higazi wrote.

When the man asked if Heisler was present, they told him Heisler was inside.

One of the assailants struck him in the face, while another robber grabbed the man’s arms from behind so he couldn’t move, Higazi wrote. Someone shoved a silver, automatic handgun in his face and demanded cash. The assailants took $150 and the man’s cell phone before ordering him to leave.

Heisler’s attorney, Drew Hurley, said his client was not present. He did not lure anyone to the location, and he doesn’t know anything about the robbery, Hurley said.

"We absolutely unhesitatingly and vigorously will challenge the allegations," the attorney said. "They are factually and legally untrue."
