IRVINGTON — The man who died in a multiple shooting in Irvington Friday has been identified as Newark resident Shihaab Loyal, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office. Loyal, 29, was one of five men shot outside of Vic’s Place, a go-go bar at 395 Stuyvesant Ave., according to the prosecutor’s office. The men were transported to University Hospital. The surviving victims are believed to have non-life threatening injuries, according to Katherine Carter, spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office.
The incident occurred at about 4:30 p.m., when witnesses in the area said they heard at least six gunshots ring out.
There have been no arrests and no motive has been determined, according to Carter. The matter is being investigated by the Irvington Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit.
