SOUTH PLAINFIELD

A 47-year-old South Plainfield woman faces charges of providing Botox injections without a license.

Yamile Matos was arrested at her Park Avenue home in the borough Tuesday after she offered an undercover woman officer Botox injections to remove wrinkles and to augment her buttocks, police Chief James Parker said.

Matos, who was also charged with possession of prescription drug with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia, was providing the injections in her home, Parker said. The arrest resulted from a joint investigation by borough police and the state Division of Consumer Affairs Enforcement Bureau.

Matos is being held today at the Middlesex County jail in North Brunswick on $70,000 bail.

Matos is the second woman arrested on charges of giving illegal injections.

Anivia Cruz-Dilworth, 28, of New Brunswick, who owns her own skin care line and is under contract with a major modeling agency, is charged with three counts of practicing medicine without a license.

Prosecutors say the New Brunswick woman was not trained to perform the procedure in which at least six women suffered severe infections. Cruz-Dilworth, who charged up to $1,250 for the procedure, allegedly sealed the injections with liquid adhesives such as Krazy Glue, authorities said.

Cruz-Dilworth's attorney, Thomas Ashley said the hydro-gel in question has been mischaracterized as similar to a household caulking agent, but is "the same type of substance routinely used in breast implants."
