A man was struck and killed while crossing Route 46 in Montville.MONTVILLE — An unidentified man was struck and killed late Friday night while crossing Route 46 in the Pine Brook section of the township.
The man, who appears to be in his late 20s or early 30s, was alone Friday evening between 11 p.m. and 12 a.m. when he crossed the highway near the Knights Inn Pine Brook motel and was struck twice in the eastbound lane, said Montville Police Detective Sgt. Andrew Caggiano.
The driver of the first car stopped to help, but the second car — believed to be a white four-door sedan, possibly a Toyota or Nissan — left the scene, Caggiano said.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. No charges have been filed against the driver of the first car.
