EAST BRUNSWICK — A Staten Island man was arrested after he told police he intentionally drove into an East Brunswick trailer park unit where a 94-year-old woman resident was home at the time, authorities said.
Robert Glogocheski, 28, was charged with criminal mischief, driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident after his vehicle struck a home in Steve's Trailer Park at 366 Route 18, East Brunswick police Capt. William Krause said.
At 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, police responding to calls about the crash found the unoccupied vehicle had struck one of the homes, Krause said.
Officers Wade Gordon and Paul Jun, acting on information from witnesses, found Glogocheski near another home in the trailer park and discovered he had an injury to his left hand, Krause said.
Glogocheski admitted driving the vehicle into the damaged home, Krause said, adding officers are still investigating the reasons for his actions. Glogocheski may have known residents of the home that was struck, and he apparently occasionally stayed in a home in the trailer park, Krause said.
The woman resident was home alone at the time of the crash but police reports gave no indication that the woman was injured, the lieutenant said.
Glogocheski was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick where he was treated and later released to police. Krause said Glogocheski was taken on the Middlesex County jail on $2,500 bail.
Township officials determined the the trailer home was uninhabitable because of the damage, Krause said. He said a second home was also hit but sustained a lesser amount of damage.
