GARFIELD — Police say a bank teller in Bergen County turned himself in after his bank was robbed was he was on duty.
Police say Branden Valenzuela told someone he knew that he was involved in Monday's heist that netted nearly $13,000 from Spencer Savings Bank in Garfield.
The friend took him to the police.
Lt. Darren Sucorowski told The Record newspaper he believes the 20-year-old's conscience got the better of him.
After Valenzuela surrendered, police then arrested 19-year-old Dionis Reyes and recovered $9,771.
Valenzuela and Reyes are charged with armed robbery and are in the Bergen County Jail on $100,000 bail each.
It's not clear if either has retained a lawyer.
