LAKEWOOD — A high-ranking member of the Bloods street gang in southern New Jersey who ordered the slaying of a colleague he thought had told police about a robbery he committed has been sentenced to 62 years in state prison.

Dyshon Ragland, who laughed at the victim's family during Friday's proceedings, must serve more than 52 years before becoming eligible for parole.

The 24-year-old Lakewood man was convicted earlier this year on numerous charges, including armed robbery, murder, conspiracy, witness tampering and aggravated assault.

Ocean County prosecutors say Ragland robbed a sub shop in February 2008, then ordered the execution of 19-year-old Anthoy Skyers because he thought Skyers had "snitched" on him. And while in the county jail, they say Ragland orchestrated an attack on another inmate who was cooperating with authorities.
