WEST ORANGE — A 28-year-old liquor store clerk was killed Friday approximately a half-hour before closing time, officials said.
James Wilson, 28, a resident of Union County, was fatally shot at about 9:30 p.m., said Essex County Prosecutor’s Office spokeswoman Katherine Carter.
Wilson was working at the Chestnut Wine and Liquors, a small store located at the intersection of Chestnut Street and Whittlesey Avenue, when he was shot, she said. Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene, Carter said.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the township’s police department are investigating the incident. There are no known suspects and a motive is under investigation, she said.
