PROVIDENCE, R.I. — A Burlington County man previously convicted of sexually assaulting a minor is scheduled for a bail hearing on charges he traveled to Rhode Island to have sex with what he thought was an 8-year-old girl.

Prosecutors say Donald Jones had been communicating online with an undercover federal agent posing as the father of the girl, who did not exist. According to the agent's affidavit, he had contacted Jones after spotting a note he'd posted online soliciting parents of young children to let him have sex with their daughters.

Jones, of Pemberton, N.J., was convicted in 1993 of sexually assaulting a girl under age 13.

The 46-year-old is expected to appear in U.S. District Court in Providence today. The court has entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf.
