Police tonight found a man shot in the head and another shot in the thigh in the 300 block of Springfield Avenue in Newark. NEWARK — One person was killed and another left in critical condition after two shootings in two days in Newark’s West Ward, authorities said.
On Monday night, Sharrone Hill, 35, of Newark, died after being shot in the 400 block of South 15th Street, said Katherine Carter, a spokeswoman for the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Another victim was grazed by gunfire in the incident, Carter said.
This evening, police found a man shot in the head and another shot in the thigh in the 300 block of Springfield Avenue, said city police spokesman Detective Hubert Henderson.
The man shot in the head was in critical condition at University Hospital of Newark tonight, Henderson said. Officers from the Major Crimes Unit went to the scene after a report of gunshots, he said.
Both incidents remain under investigation, and no motive or suspects have been identified, authorities said.
