EASTON, Pa. — Two New Jersey men are scheduled to go on trial this summer in the execution-style shooting deaths of three men in eastern Pennsylvania in 2007.
A Northampton County judge today scheduled a July trial date for 27-year-old Olayiwola Hollist and 31-year-old Demar Edwards of Newark.
They are charged in the November 2007 deaths of 20-year-old Alphe Rene, 23-year-old Chanel Armour, and 19-year-old Aleah Hamlin in an Easton apartment. Defense attorneys tell The (Allentown) Morning Call that they may offer alibis.
Prosecutors say the killings were retaliation for gang slayings in New Jersey, and they are seeking the death penalty. Another man was sentenced to 13 to 26 years in a plea deal and a fourth man convicted by a jury last year is serving a life term.
