BOUND BROOK — Authorities are trying to find out who stabbed two Dunellen residents Sunday afternoon during a fight at Billian Legion Park that drew more than two dozen people.
A 21-year-old man was taken to an area hospital around 3:16 p.m. Sunday for a stab wound to the chest, while a 17-year-old boy was treated at Somerset Medical Center for stab wounds to his abdomen and back, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano.
The 21-year-old man remained in guarded condition Tuesday, and the teenager was in stable condition, Soriano said. Authorities did not name the victims.
Detectives with Bound Brook police and the county believe the victims were injured in a fight that had been arranged at the East Main Street park on Sunday, Soriano said.
There were originally supposed to be two fighters, he said, but more than two dozen people attended the fight.
Authorities are still trying to identify witnesses, Soriano said. Anyone with information should call Bound Brook police at (732)356-0800, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit at (908) 231-7100, or the Somerset County Crime Stoppers’ Tip Line at 1 (888) 577-TIPS (8477).
