PEAPACK-GLADSTONE — Authorities have arrested a third suspect and identified a fourth in connection with an attempted murder this week outside a holiday party at the upscale Ninety Acres Culinary Center, Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano said today.
Cesar Melgar, 23, of Plainfield, on Thursday was arrested at his job in Franklin Township and charged with aggravated assault.
Authorities believe he was involved in the Monday night beating of a Ninety Acres employee, who was cut by bottles and glasses and then run over by a car.
On Tuesday, police arrested Rene Saul Morales-Pineda, 23, and Josue Navarrete, 26, both of Plainfield, for their alleged involvement in the crime.
Soriano said authorities have identified another attacker, Carlos Urbano Espinoza Tista, 22, of North Plainfield, and are seeking his arrest. The fifth suspect has not yet been identified.
Melgar remained in the Somerset County jail today, and bail has not yet been set.
Anyone with information about Tista’s whereabouts should contact the local police department.
There is a reward of $1,000 through the Somerset County Crime Stoppers at 1(888) 577-TIPS (8477), Soriano said.
Anyone with information about the attack can call Peapack-Gladstone police at (908) 234-0626 or the Somerset County Major Crimes Squad at (908) 231-7100.
