NEWARK — Essex County law enforcement authorities have posted a cash reward offer for information leading to the arrest of the suspect wanted in a March abduction and sexually assault that started in Newark and ended in Irvington.
In the incident, a 23-year-old woman was lured into a van on March 19, at 2 p.m., near Wainwright Street in Newark, the Essex County Sheriff’s Office said. The vehicle was described as an older model, dark green minivan, possibly a Mercury Villager.
The suspect drove the victim to a location in Irvington, where he sexually assaulted her, the sheriff’s office said.
The suspect was described as a black male with a medium complexion, standing 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-11 and weighing about 200 pounds. He had a receding hairline, a thin beard and no mustache.
The Crimestoppers program will pay up to $5,000 for details leading to his arrest.
