EDISON — A 19-year-old Edison service station attendant was stabbed in the arm when he struggled with a robber who police suspect hit two other stations in the township this week.

At 5:55 p.m. Thursday, the worker was serving a customer at a gasoline pump at the Sunoco station at 737 Route 1 when a man came up from behind, grabbed his arms, and threatened him with a knife, police said.

"Give me your money," the bandit demanded, according to police. The worker struggled with the bandit and was stabbed in the right bicep near his elbow, Lt. Salvatore Filannino said.

The bandit grabbed $300 from the victim and fled.

The victim was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for treatment, Filannino said.

This is the third robbery since Monday, and police believe the same man committed all three crimes.

At 7:22 p.m. Monday, a bandit armed with a knife robbed 42-year-old worker at the Shell station at 890 Route 1 north, stealing $100, and on Tuesday about $330 was taken by a knife-wielding bandit from a 57-year-old employee at an Exxon station on Route 1 near Plainfield Avenue.

Police assigned additional patrols along the highway, Filannino said.

The robber is described as a light-skinned man in his mid-20s, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with a medium-to-heavy build.

Authorities ask anybody with information to call detectives Alan Sciarrillo at (723) 713-5918, or Michael Michalski at (732) 713-5915.
