NEWARK — Authorities seized more than $43,000 worth of drugs after a suspected drug dealer was arrested in Newark Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
Isaac Free, 42, faces 29 criminal charges, including the manufacturing and distribution of possession of controlled dangerous substances, said Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura. He was arrested around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at his home on Irvine Turner Boulevard.
Officials discovered a range of illegal drugs behind a kitchen fridge, including 1,067 Oxycodone tablets, 821 Xanax tablets and 20 plastic sandwich bags containing marijuana, Fontoura said. They also found 20 envelopes stamped "RED HOT" containing heroin.
"This suspect was apparently operating on a large scale," Fontoura said in a statement. "He illegally had as much prescription drugs as your neighborhood pharmacy."
Municipal Court Judge Anthony Higgins set bail at $150,000, Fontoura said. Free will be arraigned in court on Friday.
