NEWARK — In the midst of a search for a wanted 38-year-old Newark man, Essex County Sheriff’s Department detectives ended up arresting the suspect’s girlfriend on multiple drug charges, authorities said.
Robin Hall, 40, was arrested outside her South Ward apartment and charged with multiple drug offenses as officers searched the residence for her boyfriend Karriem Reason, said Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura.
Detectives were looking for Reason inside Newark’s Seth Boyden apartments after he failed to appear for a court-mandated supervision program, Fontoura said. When they arrived, Hall informed them she was the suspect’s girlfriend and that he had just left the apartment.
While detectives searched the area, Fontoura said, Hall was seen leaving the housing complex with a black plastic bag, which she dropped outside. Officers quickly searched the bag and seized 365 vials of crack cocaine, Fontoura said.
Hall was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and several other drug offenses, the sheriff said. Bail information was not available tonight, and investigators are still searching for her boyfriend.
