HACKENSACK — A mother accused of taking her two children to South Korea and not returning them to their father was being held at a New Jersey jail on a charge of interference with custody, a report on NorthJersey.com said.

Authorities said Si-Nae Shim moved briefly to South Korea last year with her husband, Broadway violinist Alejandro Mendoza.

He returned to Dumont, but she stayed behind and has refused to let the children go back to him despite a New Jersey court order granting him custody.

The mother was arrested in March in the U.S. territory Guam. She was transferred to the Bergen County Jail this week.

Defense lawyer Jay Yanavok said he is talking to the dad's attorney to try to set a date for a family court hearing.

The children are with relatives in South Korea.
