RIDGEFIELD — Jury deliberations are set to resume today at the corruption trial of a New Jersey mayor and his associate.
Ridgefield Mayor Anthony Suarez and Guttenberg tax preparer Vincent Tabbachino each face two extortion counts and one bribery count. They were among 46 people arrested in last year's massive federal corruption sting.
Both are accused of accepting money from a federal informant who posed as a corrupt developer seeking help with zoning approvals. Solomon Dwek testified he gave Tabbachino $10,000 to give to Suarez as a bribe.
Suarez testified he never took money from Dwek. Tabbachino testified he played along with Dwek to try to get legitimate business as a real estate agent.
Deliberations began Friday.
