PATERSON -- A 20-year-old city man was shot to death early this morning, allegedly by a man police described as his friend.
The victim, Storm Brown, was found shot at 1 a.m., in his friend's back porch at 42 Highland St., according to Paterson police Detective Lt. Ron Humphrey.
Brown, who lives nearby, was pronounced dead at the scene from a single gunshot wound in the upper chest, Humphrey said.
His friend, Louis Alvarez, 30, was charged with murder, and weapons and narcotics offenses. He is being held by Paterson police, Humphrey said.
Two .357 Magnum revolvers were found a short distance from the crime scene and one is believed to be the weapon used in the shooting, Humphrey said. Police also found more than 50 grams of marijuana in the house, he said.
Brown, who lived a block away on Park Place, was visiting his friend when the shooting occurred, Humphrey said.
Police responded to a report of a stabbing, but learned it was a shooting when they arrived. Witnesses did not report a physical or verbal altercation between the two men, and police have not yet established a motive for the shooting.
