CAMDEN — A Camden man who admitted his role in a conspiracy to kill another member of a New Jersey street gang has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Twenty-nine-year-old Dionicio Adams pleaded guilty in June to a first-degree charge of conspiracy to commit murder. He must serve more than 10 years of the sentence imposed today before becoming eligible for parole.

Adams and 27-year-old Juan Vargas, who state prosecutors say was the street commander of the Camden-based Nine Trey Headbustas and led its drug trafficking operations, admitted plotting to murder Nathaniel Clay.

Investigators learned of the planned shooting and arrested the pair before it was carried out.
