EDISON — A driver quickly sped from a Dunkin Donuts parking lot on Route 1 when he saw a man armed with handgun approach his car, police said Tuesday.
The 19-year-old victim told police he was in the parking lot behind the coffee shop, adjusting his GPS unit at 11:45 p.m. Saturday when he saw another man get out of a car in the lot and pull out a gun, Lt. Salvatore Filannino said.
As the gunman approached, the driver quickly shifted his car into gear, drove through the lot and out onto Route 1, Filannino said.
No one was injured. It was not immediately clear whether the incident occurred at the Dunkin Donuts shop at the Plainfield Avenue intersection or the shop at the Wooding Avenue intersection.
