PATERSON — A Paterson councilwoman who allegedly interfered with a Prospect Park police officer writing a ticket in her ward will be in court today to continue facing a disorderly persons offense, according to a report on NorthJersey.com.
Vera Ames-Garnes says the officer had no jurisdiction to writer the ticket in Paterson. The offense, a broken taillight, was observed in Prospect Park. Prosecutors want Ames-Garnes removed from her council seat, the report said. The case is being heard in Hawthorne to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest.
