HACKENSACK — A Bergen County man convicted in three Mercer County bank robberies escaped federal custody Wednesday morning as he was being transported from a Kentucky prison to Hackensack, according to a report on NorthJersey.com
Albert Voute, 36, of Oradell Borough, managed to remove his leg irons and escaped a van when it stopped at a West Virginian Burger King. Voute has served three years of a 14-year sentence and was traveling to New Jersey to face a carjacking charge, the report said. He is still at large.
