IRVINGTON — A Newark man was arrested this afternoon and charged with the July stabbing death of an Irvington man, authorities said.
Ibn Bussey, 26, was arrested at his Elizabeth Avenue home around 2 p.m. and charged with reckless manslaughter and weapons offenses in connection with the death of Donovan Mitchell, said Anthony Ambrose, chief of detectives for the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Mitchell, 49, of Irvington, was stabbed once in the leg near his home on the 600 block of Nye Avenue around 10 p.m on July 26, authorities said. He was pronounced dead an hour later at University Hospital in Newark.
Bussey is being held in the Essex County Correctional Facility in lieu of $250,000 bail, Ambrose said. Prosecutor’s Office Detective Holt Walker and Irvington Detective Darryl Holmes made the arrest today.
